On the Passing of Berti Müller-Czerwenka
Throughout her life, Berta Susanna (known as Berti) Müller-Czerwenka was deeply committed to advancing education, science, and research. In honored memory of her husband, Professor Fritz-Peter Müller, who passed away far too early and who was a former holder of the Chair of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Construction at the former University of Karlsruhe (TH), she established the “Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fritz-Peter Müller Foundation” at what is now Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) more than four decades ago. The purpose of this KIT trust foundation is to promote, deepen, and further develop research and outstanding scientific achievement in the field of civil engineering, with a particular focus on structural dynamics.
In 2024, KIT awarded Berti Müller-Czerwenka the status of an honorary citizen in recognition of her extraordinary commitment. She had already received the KIT Medal of Merit in 2015. Over the course of her long and eventful life, Müller-Czerwenka accomplished remarkable achievements and will leave a lasting legacy. KIT owes her a profound debt of gratitude and will honor her legacy in grateful remembrance of a true friend and dedicated benefactor.
