For many people today, photos are the most personal and immediate way to share greetings or impressions— whether as short messages to family, updates for friends, or posts on social media. Since December 9, 2025, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has its own photo point. Located directly in front of the KIT Library at the main entrance of Campus South, an impressive aluminum-steel structure now stands, featuring the characteristic fan-shaped rays and the letters K-I-T. Measuring over 5 meters in length and 2 meters in height, the logo is clearly visible from Adenauerring and marks the perfect spot for a photo at and with KIT.
The new photo point provides a permanent meeting place for students, staff, and visitors, inviting them to capture special moments, achievements, and events right here and celebrate them together. The large logo serves as an ideal landmark for anyone wishing to showcase their connection to KIT or commemorate their visit.
At the same time, the photo point is designed to become a new attraction in Karlsruhe and make KIT more prominent in the cityscape. “We want KIT to be even more visible as an important center for study and research in the city,” says Professor Jan S. Hesthaven, President of KIT. “Here, people can capture their relationship with KIT and share it with the world.” In addition, the photo point acts as a striking landmark at the main entrance to the KIT Campus South.
In close partnership with society, KIT develops solutions for urgent challenges – from climate change, energy transition and sustainable use of natural resources to artificial intelligence, sovereignty and an aging population. As The University in the Helmholtz Association, KIT unites scientific excellence from insight to application-driven research under one roof – and is thus in a unique position to drive this transformation. As a University of Excellence, KIT offers its more than 10,000 employees and 22,800 students outstanding opportunities to shape a sustainable and resilient future. KIT – Science for Impact.
